The ResMed AirSense 10 Elite is a fixed pressure CPAP machine, meaning it delivers therapy at a constant pressure level throughout the night. This pressure setting remains consistent unless the ramp feature is activated. Ramp gradually increases therapy pressure from a minimal level to the prescribed level over a specified period, allowing users to ease into therapy while falling asleep. Fixed pressure devices like the AirSense 10 Elite are commonly prescribed by physicians, with the pressure setting determined either from a titration study conducted in a sleep lab or based on compliance reports from home sleep tests and auto CPAP trials.

Many experienced users of therapy prefer to stick with a fixed pressure setting they're accustomed to and may even choose to skip the ramp feature. The AirSense 10 Elite maintains the high-quality therapy performance established by its predecessor, the S9 Elite. It retains the EPR (expiratory pressure relief) feature and introduces enhancements to the ramp setting with AutoRamp. SmartStart functionality enables users to simply don their mask and start breathing, prompting the machine to automatically initiate therapy.

New Features in the AirSense Series:

The HumidAir integrated heated humidifier is incorporated directly into the CPAP device. You have the option to use either the ClimateLine Air heated hose tube or a standard SlimLine lightweight hose tube.

AutoRamp technology initiates therapy at a low pressure setting and gradually increases it once sleep onset is detected. This feature is particularly beneficial for new CPAP users, as it allows them to adjust to pressure changes smoothly. Throughout the night, if the user wakes up, the device automatically reduces the pressure to facilitate falling back asleep quickly, without the discomfort of high pressure. There's no need for manual intervention to activate the ramp function again.

ClimateLine Air, the integrated heated humidifier, is now a standard feature and offers the choice between standard SlimLine hose tubing or ClimateLine heated hose tubing. The heated hose tubing is especially beneficial for individuals sensitive to dryness caused by CPAP use, as it ensures consistent humidity levels throughout the entire length of the hose.

Advanced Event Detection distinguishes between obstructive sleep apnea events and central sleep apnea events. While obstructive sleep apnea is typically treated with standard CPAP pressure, central sleep apnea may require Bi-level therapy or ASV therapy for effective treatment.

SmartStart enables automatic device activation when you put on the mask and start breathing. It's important to note that this setting is not activated by default when your device is shipped, unless you request otherwise.
