Frequently asked questions
Real answers to the questions our customers ask most. Can't find what you need? Our CPAP consultants are happy to help.
Will this mask fit my CPAP machine?
Yes — almost certainly. CPAP masks are universal: they connect to any standard CPAP machine (ResMed AirSense 10 & 11, Philips DreamStation, Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle, Löwenstein Prisma, BMC and others) through the standard 22 mm tube. You do not need a mask made by your machine's brand. The one exception is the ResMed AirMini travel machine, which uses its own tubing and only works with AirMini-specific mask setups (look for "AirMini" in the product name). If you're unsure, tell us your machine and we'll confirm.
Ordering, prescriptions & payment
Do I need a prescription to buy a CPAP machine?
No — you can purchase directly on our website. If you already know your therapy pressure settings, let us know and we can pre-load the machine so it's ready to use out of the box. Replacement masks, cushions and accessories don't require a prescription.
Can I claim on private health, NDIS or Medicare?
Many private health "extras" policies cover CPAP equipment — we can provide a tax invoice with our ABN for your claim. We don't currently handle NDIS.
What payment options do you offer?
Card, PayPal, Afterpay and Zip (buy now, pay later).
How much is shipping and how long does delivery take?
Current shipping rates and estimated delivery times are listed on our Shipping & delivery page. If your order is taking longer than expected, contact us with your order number and we'll chase it for you.
Returns & exchanges
I ordered the wrong size or item — can I exchange or return it?
Unused, unopened equipment can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase, in original packaging (shipping costs are non-refundable). Used or opened equipment incurs a 30% processing fee, with store credit issued for the remainder. For hygiene reasons this does not apply to the ResMed AirTouch 20 series (AirTouch N20, AirTouch F20), SleepPro Contour, Bongo Therapy, Nightshift devices and CPAP pillows. Faulty or incorrect items are covered under Australian Consumer Law.
Can I drop off or swap an item at your store?
Yes — returns and exchanges can be made in person at our SA partner stores. See the store locator for locations and include your order number. Postal returns: Attention Returns, CPAP Discount C/O CLM Sleep, 187 Main South Road, Morphett Vale SA 5162.
Selling your machine (buy-back)
Do you buy used CPAP machines?
Yes — we buy back machines in good working order. Submit the Sell My CPAP form with your machine brand, model, serial number, photos and your original tax invoice. Our team reviews it and, if accepted, emails you a quote. Once you accept, you post it in or drop it to a store, and we pay you after inspection. (We buy machines and relevant parts only — not second-hand masks.)
I don't have the original tax invoice — can I still sell my machine?
Unfortunately we require the original tax invoice. Because of the high volume of buy-back requests and our legal obligations, we use it to verify proof of purchase and confirm the machine isn't stolen. If you bought it from another store, ask them for a copy of the invoice — it's still valid for submission.
How long does a buy-back quote take?
We aim to come back to you within 3 business days of your submission.
Which brands and models do you buy?
ResMed, Philips, Fisher & Paykel, Löwenstein and more. We're selective about model and age, so submit the form and we'll confirm.
Price-beat & warranty
Do you price-match or price-beat?
Yes — find a lower advertised price on the same brand-new product from an accredited Australian CPAP provider and we'll match it and then beat it by a further 5%. The competitor must have an ABN, GST registration, a physical Australian address and 12+ months trading (online-only retailers excluded); the price must be publicly available, current, and include GST and delivery. Excludes ongoing sales, bundles, promotional/clearance/refurbished/discontinued items and marketplace sellers (eBay, Amazon, Gumtree). Request it via the price-beat form on the product page before you purchase — it can't be applied as a refund afterward.
What warranty do I get?
- New machines: 2-year manufacturer warranty (ResMed machines extend free to 5 years when registered through ResMed Sleep Vantage).
- Masks, consumables, tubing and most humidifier chambers: 90 days — except memory-foam cushions (e.g. AirTouch), which aren't covered as a hygiene/wear item.
- Batteries: 6 months standard; Medistrom Pilot batteries and DC converters 12 months; most other battery accessories up to 2 years.
- Second-hand machines: 12 months (some ex-rental units carry more remaining manufacturer warranty — noted in the listing).
Second-hand & floor stock
What does "floor stock" mean — has it been used?
It depends on the specific machine. Some floor-stock units are brand-new items that have only been out of the box for in-store display or photography; others are ex-demo or trial machines with low run-hours. Either way it's been checked by our consultant and discounted — the product listing notes the history and hours for that machine. If you're unsure, just ask and we'll tell you exactly.
Are second-hand machines checked, and what warranty do they have?
Yes — every second-hand machine is thoroughly checked by our CPAP consultant and fitted with replacement parts as required before resale, with low run-hours noted in the listing. They come with a 12-month warranty.
Choosing a mask
What are the mask types and how do I choose?
Full-face covers the nose and mouth — best if you breathe through your mouth or need higher pressure. Nasal covers the nose — lighter, with a good seal. Nasal pillow sits at the nostrils — minimal, best for side-sleepers and glasses-wearers. If you're unsure, our team can recommend based on how you sleep and breathe, or try the mask finder.
How do I pick the right size?
Most masks come in S/M/L and many have a printable fitting template — see the sizing guide on each mask's page. When unsure, our consultants can help; full-face masks tend to run large.
What's the difference between AirFit and AirTouch?
AirFit cushions are silicone (wipe-clean, durable); AirTouch cushions are memory foam (softer seal, replaced more often — about every 30 days).
Can I swap an F20 cushion onto an N20 (or vice-versa)?
No — they're different mask types (F20 = full-face, N20 = nasal) with different frames, so the cushions aren't interchangeable. The elbow and QuietAir vent are shared across the 20 series, but the cushions are not.
Filters, tubes & batteries
Will this filter fit my machine, and how often should I replace it?
Disposable air-inlet filters are machine-specific — choose the filter listed for your exact model (AirSense 10 and 11 differ) and replace them about monthly (sooner in dusty homes). The inline bacteria filter (SureGard) is different: it clips into the 22 mm hose between your tube and mask, fits most setups, and should be replaced every 7 days — it's single-patient disposable and can't be washed.
Which battery works with my machine?
The Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite suits most 24 V machines (ResMed AirSense 10/11, Philips DreamStation, BMC); the Pilot-12 Lite suits 12 V machines. You'll generally also need the machine-specific connector kit. Charge the battery using your machine's own AC power supply (a 90 W+ supply is recommended; the AirMini's 20 W supply charges very slowly). The Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle has its power supply built in, so it needs an inverter to run from a battery.
Will this tube fit my machine and mask?
Standard tubes are a universal 22 mm fit for any standard machine and mask. Heated tubes are machine-specific — the AirSense 10 ClimateLineAir and the AirSense 11 heated tube are different, and the AirMini uses its own tubing. Match the heated tube to your machine model.
Your therapy data
How do I get my CPAP data or a report for my doctor?
Your therapy data syncs to ResMed AirView, the professional portal your doctor or CPAP provider uses. In your machine's app (e.g. myAir or the AirMini app), make sure "Upload Data to Cloud" is turned on; once the data is in the cloud, your healthcare provider can log in and generate the official detailed report — they're the only ones who can produce the official PDF. You can view your own nightly summary in the myAir app. (Bluetooth-only models send data to the app when connected; cellular models upload automatically.) If you have a Philips or Fisher & Paykel machine, let us know and we'll point you to the equivalent.
How do I know my machine's Wi-Fi or cellular connection is working?
It depends on your model, so tell us which machine you have and we'll walk you through it. In general: the AirSense 11 shows wireless status in its on-screen menu; the AirSense 10 uploads automatically over its built-in connection (no setup needed); the AirMini connects via Bluetooth to the AirMini app. If the app won't connect, restart the machine and your phone's Bluetooth and make sure you're signed in to the app — or contact us and we'll help.
