How do I adjust the comfort functions - humidity and start-up time - on my AirSense 11?

How to access the comfort settings on your AirSense 11:

On your AirSense 11 device, use the touch screen to navigate to “My Options” and view your current settings. From there, you can customize your personal preferences.

Humidity level

The humidifier provides a pleasant humidity level during therapy to increase comfort. With the automatic climate control setting, both temperature and humidity are set to predefined values that provide the highest level of comfort. If you are using a heated ClimateLineAir™ hose, all you need to do is connect it and press “Start”. Note: A heated ClimateLineAir hose is required to use the automatic climate control.

You can also set the humidity level manually to “Off” or between 1 and 8, where 1 is the lowest and 8 is the highest humidity level.

If you have a dry nose or mouth, increase the humidity. If you notice moisture in your mask, reduce the moisture.

To adjust the moisture level:

Go to “My Options”, select “Moisture Level” and scroll to select the desired level.

Ramp time

The ramp time is the time it takes for the pressure to rise from a low starting pressure to the prescribed treatment pressure. You can set the ramp time to “Off”, between 5 and 45 minutes or to “Auto”. With the “Auto” setting, the device recognizes when you have fallen asleep and then gradually increases the pressure to the prescribed value.

To adjust the start-up time:

Go to “My Options”, select “Start-up time” and adjust the setting to your preference.

How do I get an AirSense 11, how much does it cost and is it covered by insurance?

You will need a CPAP prescription for an AirSense 11. Costs and coverage vary by insurance provider and plan. Once your doctor has written you a prescription, contact your insurance provider to find out what is covered under your plan. After that, you can find a CPAP equipment store near you or shop online.

I'm having problems with my CPAP machine and need help. Who should I contact?

The medical equipment retailer - the store where you picked up your CPAP mask and device - is responsible for providing ongoing clinical support, including answering questions and resolving issues with your AirSense 11 device or its settings. Getting used to CPAP therapy can be challenging, and there may be different device options that better suit your individual comfort needs. Therefore, do not hesitate to contact them!

How do I clean my CPAP device and how often?

You should clean your CPAP Machine weekly. The following instructions will help you to clean your device; full cleaning instructions can also be found in the operating instructions for the device.

How to clean your CPAP device

  • Duration: 5 minutes
  • Materials required:
  • Sink or tub
  • Warm, drinkable water (30°C / 86°F)
  • Mild detergent
  • Clean towel

Step-by-step instructions for weekly cleaning:

Unplug the appliance. Clean the water tank and air hose with warm water and mild detergent. Do not clean in the dishwasher or washing machine.

Rinse the water tank and air hose thoroughly and allow them to air dry without direct sunlight or heat.

Wipe the outside of the appliance with a dry cloth.

Can I use an ozone device to clean my ResMed device?

ResMed has determined that prolonged and repeated use of an ozone device can potentially cause internal damage to a ResMed device, which may result in increased motor noise. ResMed's limited warranty excludes damage caused by the use of ozone devices.

How often should I replace parts of my CPAP device and can I enroll in a replacement program?

It is important to inspect, clean and replace your CPAP equipment regularly as it can be affected by dirt and wear and tear. You should regularly check the water tank, air tubing and air filter for signs of wear or damage.

Here are some tips for replacing CPAP parts:

Water tank:

Replace it if it starts to leak or is cracked, cloudy or pitted.

Replace the seal if it is cracked or torn.

Remove white powder deposits with a solution of one part household vinegar and ten parts water.

Air hose:

Replace it if it has holes, tears or cracks.

Air filter:

CPAP air filters can become worn or clogged over time, potentially exposing you to airborne particles, mold and bacteria. We recommend checking them twice a month.

For help on when and how to replace your device parts, contact your CPAP dealer and ask if they offer a replacement program so you can get new parts regularly. Also check with your insurance provider to see what replacement parts are included in your plan and how often you can replace them.
